Operation Market Garden was a bid to destroy Nazi Germany before Christmas, 1944.
The plan was ambitious – it was the largest airborne invasion in the history of the world. They planned to capture a corridor through Holland to punch through the German lines. Paratroopers of the 101st Airborne and other divisions dropped from the sky in mid-September to seize and hold the corridor by surprise. The surprise attack was a bust. Hitler’s best units were in the area and immediately counter-attacked and crushed the corridor. To the Allied paratroopers who fought there and lost brothers in arms, the corridor became known as Hell’s Highway.
It was the last great Nazi victory. It was hell for Sgt. Baker and his squad.

Pirates vs. Ninjas™ Dodgeball is being developed using Infyrno™, Blazing Lizard’s next-gen proprietary game engine. Allowing only the sweetest gameplay with art, style and a theme suited for all age groups, Pirates vs. Ninjas™ Dodgeball pits scurvy against ninjitsu and cutlass versus katana, to settle the world’s oldest debate; who’d win – Pirates or Ninjas (or possibly one of the other unannounced teams)? The title will include Exhibition, Story, and Challenge modes with multiplayer support for 4 players Local / 8 players Online, and 4-player Co-op modes. So which flag will you fly? The Jolly Roger or the Rising Sun?

BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger is a two-dimensional fighting arcade game in development by Arc System Works, the staff behind the Guilty Gear series. It is set to come out out in winter 2008 in Japan. It is a spiritual successor to Guilty Gear. A playable demo was presented at AOU 2008. The game is being developed for the Taito Type X2 arcade system board, with a 16:9 ratio and 720p resolution.[1] While a console version has yet to be announced, BlazBlue is rumoured to be a PlayStation 3 exclusive.[2]

BEIJING (AP)—Once-reclusive China commandeered the world stage Friday, celebrating its first-time role as Olympic host with a stunning display of pageantry and pyrotechnics to open a Summer Games unrivaled for its mix of problems and promise.

Now ascendent as a global power, China welcomed scores of world leaders to an opening ceremony watched by 91,000 people at the eye-catching National Stadium and a potential audience of 4 billion worldwide. It was depicted as the largest, costliest extravaganza in Olympic history, bookended by barrages of some 30,000 fireworks.

To the beat of sparkling explosions, the crowd counted down the final seconds before the show began. A sea of drummers—2,008 in all—pounded out rhythms with their hands, then acrobats on wires gently wafted down into the stadium as rockets shot up into the night sky from its rim.

President Bush and Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin were among the glittering roster of notables who watched China make this bold declaration that it had arrived. Bush, rebuked by China after he raised human-rights concerns this week, is the first U.S. president to attend an Olympics on foreign soil.
