    What is Skin Aging ?

Skin Aging is a very common type of skin disorders but is very dangerous also.

According to researches there are two distinct types of aging. Aging caused by the genes we inherit is called intrinsic (internal) aging. The other type of aging is known as extrinsic (external) aging and is caused by milieu factors, such as exposure to the sun’s rays. Aging skin therefore appears thinner, more pale, and translucent. Large pigmented spots (called age spots, liver spots, or lentigos) may appear in sun-exposed areas. Innate aging is the natural process of the aging, it begins with the age of about 20’s but the signs of intrinsic aging are typically not visible for decades. Whereas the extrinsic aging is caused mainly by sun exposure and other factors like: reiterative facial expressions, gravity, sleeping positions, and smoking.

Here you find all terms related to Skin Aging, like symptoms, causes and effective treatment.
What are the causes of Skin Aging ?

Causes of skin aging are as follows:

    1) For internal (intrinsic) skin aging the cause is simple as it is a natural process which is because of time factor as according to age skin collagen production get slow and losses its elasticity. Dead skin cells also do not shed fast and new skin cells stops increasing

    2) External or (extrinsic) skin aging which is cause primarily due to environmental factors including sun exposure. With repeated exposure to the sun, the skin loses the ability to overhaul itself, and the damage accumulates. Scientific studies have shown that repeated ultraviolet (UV) exposure breaks down collagen and vitiates the synthesis of new collagen
What are the symptoms of Skin Aging ?

Following are the symptoms of skin aging :

    1) Skin get more thinner and fragile

    2) Reduction in sensibility of sense, touch etc

    3) Healing of wounded skin takes long time

    4) Fine wrinkles

    5) Dry skin cause sometimes itching

    6) Inabity to cool off through sweating

What is the cause of split ends?

Hit is not cut, the hair can grow to a length of 40 to 80 cms. During its long stay on the scalp, the hair is exposed to innumerable physical and chemical traumas: combing and brushing, shampooing, weathering and chemical treatments. These factors
are all the more damaging to hair because hair is a dead structure that lacks the power of self-repair. The cumulative effect of all these injuries is the gradual wearing down of the cuticle scales - these are totally lost at the tips of the hair andthis resultsin split ends.
What can we do about split ends?

Though we cannot refrain from injuring our hair, careful grooming of the hair is likely to delay the appearance of splits’: avoid rubber bands, spiky brushes and combs; avoid combing wet hair. Conditioners protect the ‘hair against physical injury to some extent, so use them regularly. Once splits have appeared, it is a good idea to trim off the straggly ends to give a healthy appearance to the hair.
Treatment & Care Tips for Split Ends

Wet hair should not be brushed.

The juice of leaves of bhongra massaged on the head is effective hair tonic.

Avoid rubber bands, spiky brushes and sharp clips.

The oil extracted from the seeds of sagvan is massaged on the head to check premature loss of hair.

Apply a little lemon juice with 4 tablespoon of coconut milk to the scalp. Wash the hair after an hour. Repeat this every week.

Get your hair trimmed every 4-5 weeks even if you are growing it.

The oil extracted from rohisa, briskly rubbed on the head helps in growing hairs.

The paste made from powdered seeds of shana with coconut / sesame / castor oil is used as hair tonic.

To control the problem of falling hair, massage with olive oil. Dip towel in hot water and then cover your head with that towel. Do it again when it get cools. Do this for 15 minutes before shampooing.

In comparison to the capital, Chittagong was quite a ‘conservative’ city for many a year as far as the modern idea or trend of glamour, beauty and fashion were concerned. And nowadays, Chittagong is not much behind the capital in those terms.
A remarkable change has started, slowly but steadily, in recent years to grip the diffident Chittagong with the boom and popularity of beauty parlour. The country’s commercial capital that once had only one parlour named Lucy about 30 years ago now has over 150 parlours and one can easily find one of them in every nook and corner in the city. Once a matter of individual’s amateur hobby, beauty parlours have now turned to be a lucrative business especially prospective young women entrepreneurs’ dream.
Following Lucy, established by former national cricketer Shafiqul Hoque Hira’s wife Latifa Hoque Lucy at city’s posh Mehdibag area in late seventies, numerous beauty parlours have come up in the city to cater the beauty-needs of girls and women. The names like New Look at Chatteswari Road, Eves at Nasirabad Housing Society, Fair Touch at Mehdibag, Touch & Glow at OR Nizam Road, Alviras Beauty Care at OR Nizam Road, Lee Beauty Parlour & Skin Care at VIP Tower, La Figurina at Mehdibag, Roma Beauty Parlour at Jamal Khan Road and Bibiana at Katalganj have become familiar to them.
With the boom of parlours, a stiff competition among them has also been surfaced to attract customers, and the parlour owners are in a frenzy to offer attractive discount or package in this regard.
The Eid or Puja festivity is known as the ‘peak time’ and the parlour owners quite naturally target these two largest religious festivals of the Muslim and Hindu community. As another Eid festivity is drawing nearer this year, the beauty parlours in Chittagong have already wore a festive look with extra polish of indoor and outdoor decoration. An unprecedented craze this time among the girls and women has also been seen. Although parlour business gets momentum one week before Eid day, many of the parlour houses are receiving advance booking in great number.
“We believe, alongside attractive offers, many parlours in the city have come up with newer ideas shunning the traditional trend of make-up or get-up. And newer styles in hair cutting, facial and make-up have been added to generate popularity among the customers,” said Nigar Sultana Mukta, owner of New Look and a beauty expert.
Mukta, with training from Lakme Training Institute in Mumbai and Mogha International in Bangkok, opened her parlour with a band of skilled and highly trained beauticians who give emphasis on cleanness and better client services.
“Usually, most of my clients come to have hair cut, hair colour and different types of facial during Eid. This time, our special offers are aroma gold herbal facial, ginseng facial, and gold and diamond facial, and these are done with world famous brand products having no side effect on skin,” Mukta said, adding that her parlour charge Tk 120 to Tk 1,000 for different services with 10 percent discount in rebonding and hair colour.
Alviras Beauty Care, however, offers service for both male and female. They charge Tk 4,000 to Tk 15,000 for straightening of hair, Tk 50 to Tk 350 for normal hair cutting, Tk 800 to Tk 1,200 for body massage, Tk 2,500 to Tk 3,000 for model make-up and Tk 800 to Tk 3,000 for party make-up.
She said majority of her clients belong to young girls and young married women and they generally turn in after Ramadan 20 to do facial, bleach, clean-up, stylish hair cut and hair colour.
“This time, our special offers are spa facial, diamond facial and boy cut and the cost for these ranges from Tk 180 to Tk 1,200,” she said.

Many celebrities go to extreme lengths just to maintain that beautiful figure of theirs and some of them are inded going on this lemon diet. The lemon diet is actually another detoxification diet that capitalizes on the high concentrations of Vitamin-C in the sour fruit. Filled with acid and vitamins it does have a cleansing effect on the body which should start with a detox diet consisting merely of fresh fruits and water. This is followed by a whole week’s drinking of lemonade at room temperature and organic fruits and foods that would surely trim you down.
If you have some problems with your digestive tract, please consult your doctor for the high acid content of lemons might aggrevate the condition further and as we know, it can be very painful.

It is important that you know your skin type. You cannot select the cosmetic for your skin till you know the skin type.
There are five types of skin

    * Normal skin
    * Dry skin
    * Greasy or oily skin
    * Combinational skin
    * Sensitive skin

    How to test your skin?

When you wake up in the morning wipe your face with a dry tissue. If the skin will be oily, then your tissue will become greasy.

If your skin is a combinational skin, then there will be grease only in the centre part of the face.

For normal skin, there will be no grease. If your skin is dry skin, then there will be flaky patches. And for the sensitive skin, it is very delicate and prone to allergies.
    Normal skin

This is the best type of skin because it retains its freshness, attraction and flushes for a long time. It is a perfectly balanced skin and it is very rare that this kind of skin gets the disease. This is very smooth and velvety kind of skin and does not look puffy and shiny. This type of skin is neither dry nor greasy. The skin has a rose color to it and the color grows under the translucent surface. This type of skin rarely has pimples or acnes as it has well balanced oil and moisture level. This kind of skin does not have much problem but it needs sensible care and treatment.
    Caring of normal skin

For normal skin, toning, daily cleansing and nourishing should be done. For this use a mild or balanced soap. Soft water should be used to wash the face daily. The hard tap water should be softened by adding little borax powder to it. Rinse the skin with clean water but do not rub too hard near the eyes as the skin here is very delicate. Before going to the bed you should remove your make-up. Rose water can also be used for cleansing and dabbing.
    Dry skin

This is very delicate kind of skin and dry with a tendency of getting scales on the cheeks. This type of skin is highly susceptible to extremities of weather conditions. Strong perfumed skin care products are harmful for this type of skin. More exposure to sun, room heaters and air conditioners should is also harmful for this kind of skin. Wrinkles appear much faster on it rather on any other type of skin. You should have constant protection for this kind of skin as this skin lacks suppleness and gets hard after washing.
    Caring of dry skin

Good moisturizer should be used for this type of skin and gently massage the skin. Massaging, toning and moisturizing with small quantities of oil and moisturizers should be done as a routine for preservation of the skin. The moisturizer increases the water content of the outer layer of the skin giving it a soft feel. Cream is much better than a lotion as it has more oil than water. You should be use a good nourishing cream at night before sleeping. You should avoid frequent washing of face as it not only removes the germs but also the natural oil with it, which protects the skin and also its elasticity. The cucumber juice which is a good toner for dry skin helps in moisturizing the pores. You should have a diet rich in vitamin A, B, C and D is good for dry skin.
    Greasy or oily skin

This type of skin is thick, shiny or coarse. Pimples or dark shadows are maximum susceptible to this kind of skin. Proper care should be taken for such type of skin and the face should be washed frequently.
    Caring of oily skin

You should use a good cleansing milk or unboiled milk to wash your face at night before going to sleep. You should drink 4 litres of water a day to have the skin clear of pimples and grease. Avoid the use of make-up until or unless you have to go for a party. It is necessary to steam the face once in a week to keep the oily face dry.
    Combinational skin

This type of skin is a mixture of oily and dry skin. The forehead and the nose is greasy down the bridge in this type of skin. Oiliness makes a T-zone on the face. The rest of the face is either dry or normal. Sometimes the difference on the face of this two types of skin gets large and should be treated accordingly means the central part should be treated like a oily skin and the dry area should be treated like dry skin. A strong astringent should be used for oily areas and mild ones for the dry skin.
    Caring of combinational skin

For washing your face you should use a cleansing milk at night or use a mild soap for washing or you can also use a rose based cream. You should use a mixture of curd and lime juice on your face and neck. Remove the excess lotion from the oily areas of the skin.
    Sensitive skin

A sensitive skin has a fine texture with a tendency be much rosier than you think. This type of skin is very soft and prone to allergies. Factors like sunlight, cosmetic like strong perfume causes allergy and dermatitis. Even some natural fruits and vegetables are harmful for sensitive skin.
    Caring of sensitive skin

Use milk to cleanse and moisturize with a solution of rose water and glycerine if no lotion or cream suits the skin. The perfumes and strong scented creams and lotion must be avoided for sensitive skin. Use of primrose oil and moisturizer should be used for this kind of skin as it hydrates and protects the skin

    All Kind of Massage

There are a variety of different strokes that can be used, ranging from the most delicate touch with the fingertips to focussed deep-tissue work. All strokes can be varied in speed and pressure.Keeping your hands relaxed, begin working slowly and rhythmatically, gradually building up speed and pressure as you experiment.
    Some basic points:
1.As a general rule, strokes should be made firmly in the direction of the heart, and then lightly for the return stroke.
2.By varying their intensity, strokes can be used either to stimulate or relax.
3.Ideally the reciever should experience the massage as one long series of rhythmic strokes.

    Massage Position:
Avoid working only from your hands and shoulders.Use the weight and movement of your whole body to improve the fluidity of your strokes and to help you when you wish to use more pressure.

    Massage Strokes:

This stroke is used a great deal throughout the massage sequence and is particularly useful for applying oil to the body.It can be a feather-light or a firm re-assuring stroke.Keeping the fingers together and hands outstretched, glide the hands forward along the length of the body or limb, retaining contact with the flat of the hand. The strokes you employ can be either long or circular, using one or both hands. The function of gliding strokes is to relax and stretch your partners muscles.
    2.Kneading:
Kneading is a firm stroke used on a specific area to help release muscle tension and improve circulation.Gently grasp the area(e.g. calf, thigh, or fleshy area over the hip) with both hands and make a kneading action similar to that of kneading dough.
    3.Draining:
A light-to medium-pressure stroke which relaxes and stretches the muscles anmd improves circulation.Use either the heel of the hand on larger areas (e.g. thigh) or the thumbs on smaller areas(e.g. calves, forearms). With one hand following the other, push firmly using the heel or thumb of first hand and the next, traveling slowly upward along the limb or muscle.
    4.Pulling:
This stroke can be used to pull and stretch the muscles of the trunk, and the legs.Use alternating hands in a pulling motion, gradually moving them up the body.
    5.Wringing:
This stroke is similar to “pulling”, but works right across the body or limb. This is a good stroke with which to finish a particular sequence and can be used on the torse, legs, and arms.Start with hands placed either side of the body or limb.Moving the hands in a forward and back motion across the body, progress slowly up toward the head.

    6.Friction Strokes:

These are deeper strokes wich allow you to work around jionts and into the muscles and tendons, to iron out knots and release tension.Using the thumbs or fingertips, work slowly and firmly into the area, making tiny circular movements.Different individuals will prefer different pressures-some will only be able to tolerate light pressure, others will want you to work as deeply as possible.
    7.Percussive Strokes:
Percussive strokes, such as hacking, cupping and plucking, are used to stimulate areas, improve circulation, and release muscle tension. They can be used on the shoulders, arms, legs, buttocks, and gently along the back.Do not use percussive strokes directly on the spine. These strokes are not an essential part of any massage sequence, but you may wish to incorporate some of them into your routine. They can be performed very lightly, or with more intensity, as appropriate.Remember to keep your hands and wrists as relaxed as possible.
    8.Hacking:
With hands open and palms facing each other, make an alternating “chopping” motion up and down the body.As a variation on this stroke, curl the fingers into loose fists to create more of pummeling effect on the body.

    9.Cupping:

Cup hands and face palms downwards.Keeping hands cupped, gently beat up and down along the body.
    10.Pinching Or Plucking:
Gently lift small amounts of flesh and let it slide through the fingers
