Jenson Alexander Lyons Button MBE (born 19 January 1980) is a British Formula One driver currently signed to McLaren. He was the 2009 World Drivers’ Champion.
Button began karting at the age of eight and achieved early success, before progressing to car racing in the British Formula Ford Championship and the British Formula Three Championship. He first drove in Formula One with the Williams team for the 2000 season. The following year he switched to Benetton, which in 2002 became Renault F1, and then for the 2003 season he moved to BAR. They were subsequently renamed Honda for the 2006 season, during which Button won his first Grand Prix in Hungary, after 113 races.[1]
Following the withdrawal of Honda from the sport in December 2008, he was left without a drive for the 2009 season, until Ross Brawn led a management buyout of the team in February 2009, and Button suddenly found himself in a highly competitive, Mercedes-engined car. He went on to win a record-equalling six of the first seven races of the 2009 season, and secured the 2009 World Drivers’ Championship at the Brazilian Grand Prix, having led on points all season; his success also helped Brawn GP to secure the World Constructors’ Championship. For 2010, he moved to McLaren, partnering fellow British racer and former world champion Lewis Hamilton.

BEIJING — The newest Miss World is from the United States.
Alexandria Mills, a soft-spoken 18-year-old, was named the winner in Saturday night’s contest in southern China. The tall blonde was a relative surprise winner after speculation focused on other contestants.

Second place went to Emma Wareus of Botswana, and Adriana Vasini of Venezuela came third.

The host country’s own contestant, Tang Xiao, also was among the final five.

According to a brief biography on the Miss World website, Mills calls Louisville, Ky., her hometown, and she recently graduated from high school. She would like to become a teacher.

“I’ve never met a stranger and enjoy meeting new people,” she says in the bio.
For the final, she was wearing a shimmering ivory-colored dress slit up the leg.
Mills takes over the title from Kaiane Aldorino of Gibraltar, who was named Miss World 2009 at a ceremony in South Africa last December.

Students from Moscow State University have posed in their lingerie for a bizarre erotic calendar in celebration of prime minister Vladimir Putin’s 58th birthday.

The ‘Vladimir Vladimirovich, We love you. Happy Birthday Mr Putin’ calendar features 12 lingerie-clad journalism students in sultry poses.

The pics are accompanied by saucy messages for the prime minister such as ‘you put out the forest fires, but I’m still burning’.

Miss December even left her phone number and invited Putin to call her for a personal birthday message.

Speaking to the AFP, one of the calendar’s creators, Maxim Perlin, said that it has an empowering message.

‘The idea of the calendar was to show girls who are not simply models who turn up for $100, but girls who have some political opinion, who have already achieved some success,’ he said.

He added that the models are posing in their underwear because it is ‘more beautiful and more interesting’.

However, the calendar has not proved popular with the faculty at Moscow State University, with a spokeswoman for the journalism department stating it is a ‘work of erotic tastelessness’.

Some 50,000 copies of the calendar went on sale earlier this week.

In 2008, Kremlin-linked fashion designer Antonia Shapovalova created a range of underwear emblazoned with the slogan ‘Vova, I’m with you’ – a term of affection for Putin.

Film review: Katherine Heigl once again plays a single, uptight TV presenter but is likeable in this decent romcom.

No one can accuse Katherine Heigl of being typecast, eh? Fresh from playing a single, uptight TV producer in The Ugly Truth, she’s here playing a single, uptight TV presenter. And this time the womanising cad she’s clearly meant for is not Gerard Butler, he’s Josh Duhamel.

After meeting on a disastrous first date, Holly and Messer are thrown together when their mutual friends are killed in a car accident, leaving baby Sophie in their care. Forced to move in together and juggle work schedules and baby duties, the pair attempt to overcome their differences. Naturally, an attraction forms, but the best laughs come when these two are bickering.

Heigl’s likeable and Duhamel will certainly send the target market a-flutter. What’s not so impressive is the speed with which these two get over their friends’ deaths. But given that the supporting characters aren’t bad, what could have been another awful romcom turns into something half decent.

Man marries pillow

True love can take many forms. In this case, it has taken the form of a Korean man falling in love with, and eventually marrying, a large pillow with a picture of a woman on it.

Lee Jin-gyu fell for his ‘dakimakura’ – a kind of large, huggable pillow from Japan, often with a picture of a popular anime character printed on the side.

In Lee’s case, his beloved pillow has an image of Fate Testarossa, from the ‘magical girl’ anime series Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha.

Now the 28-year-old otaku (a Japanese term that roughly translates to somewhere between ‘obsessive’ and ‘nerd’) has wed the pillow in a special ceremony, after fitting it out with a wedding dress for the service in front of a local priest. Their nuptials were eagerly chronicled by the local media.

‘He is completely obsessed with this pillow and takes it everywhere,’ said one friend.

‘They go out to the park or the funfair where it will go on all the rides with him. Then when he goes out to eat he takes it with him and it gets its own seat and its own meal,’ they added.

The pillow marriage is not the first similarly-themed unusual marriage in recent times – it comes after a Japanese otaku married his virtual girlfriend Nene Anegasaki, a character who only exists in the Nintendo DS game Love Plus, last November.
